Pokemon Pokedex coming to iOS in Japan

Nintendo Life reports:

The base application, which costs 170 Yen, is similar to the pre-installed 3DS app Pokédex 3D, giving information on each 'mon as well as displaying an accompanying 3D model. It will only include information on Pokémon found in the Unova region at first, but once the app has been downloaded Pokémon from the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh regions can be added for 500 Yen each using in-app purchases, so for a full 'dex you'll need 2170 Yen...

The app comes from The Pokemon Company, so before you get all excited that Nintendo is making apps for iPhones, take note of that.

Actually you'll have to wait for the Miiverse app before you can say that Nintendo has made something for iOS.

PSA: Remember Pocket Frogs? There's an update coming!

According to toucharcade there's an update coming this week to the iOS game Pocket Frogs by nimblebit.

It's been over a year since the last update, so you'd be forgiven if you've forgotten about this game. One person that hasn't forgotten about it is my 9 year old daughter, who still plays and maintains her frog habitats regularly.

One thing about this update is that they will be dropping the Plus+ network from the game in favour of standardizing around GameCenter, so in order to ensure you maintain your game save data, you need to make sure that you have the game installed right now, before the update! This allows your save data to be updated on the Plus+ servers, so that when the update hits later this week, it will transition to GameCenter smoothly.

If you've uninstalled the game, and you don't install the old version right now, your Plus+ game save data will not transition over.

Fair warning.

Square Enix releases new free to play RPG "Wizardlings" for iOS

Wizardlings is a new free to play iOS game from Square Enix. It looks cartoony and cute, not yet sure how frustrating it will be to play for free... you know the drill. Check it out, at least you get that option now.

[UPDATE] I've played it now, and it's about as exciting as popping bubble wrap. Actually, it's less exciting than bubble wrap. Sorry.

More Room for Games, I guess

The next iPhone might get bigger, according to rumours. Joshua Schnell:

Reuters, not a publication that takes rumors lightly, has published a report based on an unnamed source speaking to the Maeil Business Newspaper. It’s a little bit surprising, and it’s starting to look like Reuters may be getting in on the cash cow that is iPhone rumors. Also, the Maeil Business Newspaper is a Korean based newspaper, so there could be some connection to Samsung factories in the region. That being said, there’s no mention on the Maeil Business Newspaper website of this story at all, so it appears Reuters got the news from an actual printed paper, conveniently.

Rumors of a larger screen iPhone have been around since before the iPhone 4S release last October. It didn’t happen then, and we’re not completely sold that it’ll happen this time around. Personally I think the 3.5-inch screen of the current iPhone is pretty perfect, but I have girly hands, so you sausage finger dudes may disagree with me.

I tend to agree that the 3.5-inch size is just about perfect, especially for small kids hands.
